Patricia Fistes Adams is an aggressive, ingenious, complex women. She gives the impression that there is nothing you can't achieve. "I know who I am, I know what I want." She is full of brightness and forces the fashion industry to rethink its position by challenging its conventions and eventually dismantling them.Â
"Obsessing over the rise and fall of hemlines is irrelevant to me. I am insistent on showing fashion more substance." Fistes-Adams has been a formidable force in the fashion industry for almost seven years because of her continued commitment to innovation, creativity, and excellence. As result, her creativity is the result of an electrical lightning storm. In 2002 she launched a life-style brand that sets important precedents for fashion, intended to celebrate individuals who have profound commitment to pursuing their dreams. The Lourdes Collection and Barking Fire Couture by Patricia Fistes-Adams promotes the individuals who wear the garment. Her designs are compelling as the people who bring life to them. "I design for everyone and reimagine fashion without sacrificing individuality. We are all one. I design for individuals that have inner fire, passion and strength. You cannot let society dictate who you are. I define beauty for myself and I defy trends." Fistes-Adams is unapologetic about her passion and wants to change the perception of beauty. Every product that bears Barking Fire presents a seamless image such as integrity, intellect, elegance, tradition, value, morale, fire, class, depth. Above all Barking Fire Couture is a celebration of individuals regardless of height, weight, color, race, and sex.Â
"There is not a canned definition of beauty. Beauty may not reside in places our society suggests because it lies within. Ultimately, my designs will not transform you into a beautiful person. You have to know who you are and what you want out of life to wear my garments." Her garments are almost secondary. "My approach to design has given way to a more "experience of creation" approach with an emphasis on progression and reaction. It is almost visceral or out-of-body when you physically witness creation come to fruition. It is a very powerful, profound and engaging process for me...very unpredictable, my inspiration is very unpredictable as well." Her creativity is best demonstrated through the combination of different ideas and concepts fusing them into one cohesive collection. Her "live" room-size butterfly dress, animated puppet headdress, proves that her resolve will not change. She has a nothing is impossible synaesthetic combination of concepts and each design is different yet cohesive.Â
